Its snubbing for having appeared on television first so outraged run-of-the-mill fans that there was no way to go back to business-as-usual. This is the movie that changed everything, and you owe it to yourself to watch it. Probably the first documentary to generate raves from everyone (instead of simply fans of documentaries) this movie moves people. Its story-telling is personal and at times painful but always true. The trust between the film-makers and the people they filmed for our benefit is palpable. The world Hoop Dreams exposes is immediately recognizable -- it's where we live. Excellent sports documentary!!! Everyone should see this. Really reflects the reality youth face while trying to make it out of the hood... And reach their "Hoop Dreams!"

The ideal sports documentary. If you have teenage children who aspire to be student-athletes, this doc is for both of you!

I was told to watch this movie and I loved it. a guy like me that loved basketball ever since I was able to pick one up absolutely enjoyed it A LOT. this movie showed if you have a dream and you put your mind to it, you CAN make it come true

I love this Movie bcuz it shows how important it is to hit the books plus don't put all your eggs in one basket counting on the NBA always have a back up plan!
